When you think about the 80’s you think about Saturday morning cartoons, funky clothing, over the top action movies and of course Heavy metal. So lets take a look at some of the top 80’s tracks with the best guitar solos in this writer’s opinion.
5. Bad Medicine by Bon Jovi
Bad Medicine is the number one single by American hard rock band Bon Jovi. The song highlighted the near constant keyboard playing by David Bryan that is well defined in the beginning of the song and at several parts throughout, as well as loud guitar playing by Richie Sambora, background singing in the bridge and chorus, and a loud fast-paced delivery of lyrics by Jon Bon Jovi.
4. The Four Horsemen by Metallica
The Four horsemen is a track from Metallica’s debut album Kill em All. Dave mustaine wrote it originally for a previous band. The song was one of Metallica’s staples during the 80’s. The song was re-written by James Hetfield into something we know today, as in reference to the Four horsemen of the apocalypse.
3. Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Paranoid is the second studio album by English metal band Black Sabbath. Released in the September of 1970, Paranoid contains several of the band’s signature songs, such as Iron Man. It is often regarded as one of the most quintessential and influential albums in heavy metal.
2. Still of the Night by White Snake
Still of the Night is a song by the English band White snake. The song was written by lead singer David Coverdale and guitarist John Sykes.it was one of the band’s most popular songs. It combines the blues origins of the band with the more distorted, harder sound driving the song, making for a powerful hard rock song.
1. Aint talkin bout love by Van Halen
Aint talkin bout love is a single by Van Halen from their 1978 eponymous debut album. When Eddie Van Halen originally wrote the song he did not consider it good enough to show his band members. The song is also one of the few David Lee Roth era songs that one time replacement Sammy Hagar was willing to sing in concert when he joined the band in the mid-’80s.
